Liu and Zhang labs awarded a NIH Trailblazer R21 grant
The Liu Lab in Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science and the Zhang Lab in Department of Physiology received a mutliple-PI Trailblazer R21 award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) to develop a flexible, biocompatible optical fiber for efficient calcium signal detection in skeletal muscles of awake, free behaving animals. This technology and collaboration will expand our ability to investigate the physiological mechanisms that link activity in the brain and body.
